Hey Farrah I absolutely LOVE your new haircut and am thinking of taking the plunge myself (I've never had short hair! It's always been past my waist). I would love to get mine cut very similarly to yours, did you take a reference photo with you that you could share so I can show my hairdresser? :)

HIYA! glad you like it (◠ω◠✿)

i took this photo to the salon but i also explained to the stylist that i wanted angled bangs. also because the photo doesn’t show the back of the hair, she kinda worked her magic when it came to that part of the cut. but basically it’s a gradual slope from my shortest piece to my longest

Do you take any vitamins for your hair? My hair even when I add in leave in conditioner is always dry. I use tresseme (spelling?) curly shampoo and garne leave in conditioner with their mousse. I cant get my hair to look as calm as yours OH and do you have any layers? I dont know how to cut it so when i mousse it, it stays nice and calm lol

I take iron and kelp tablets, but I don’t buy them specifically for my hair or anything, so I’m not sure if they help??

In my experience the best conditioner for dry hair is HANDS DOWN North American Hemp Co’s Moisturizing Conditioner. It is a fucking dream. One bottle lasts me forever because you don’t need much, which makes it easy to nurse. Most of the time for me just mixing a small amount in with my regular conditioner is enough.

And I don’t use mousse anymore! I use styling cream/creme. My favourite is Andalou’s Moisture Rich Styling Cream. Mousse can go a little crusty and I’ve found that doesn’t happen with styling cream.

And yes, it’s layered! none of my personal handiwork though, so I’m not sure what else to say about that..?

Sometimes I put my #hair up without looking and things happen

how do you get such beautiful curls ?? :OO

aw, you’re too nice! They’re natural for the most part, but I use a styling cream to help shape them and tame frizz

How do you get your hair so lovely and curly? Do you use any products I really want your hair!

Andalou Naturals Argan & Sweet Orange Styling Cream

favourite stuff! I massage a bit in when my hair is damp, then let it air dry

What do you use in your hair daily?

mm, daily? I don’t do anything “daily” really. I wash it on average every second day. If I’m leaving it curly I run a bit of Andalou’s Orange Argan Styling Creme in it while it’s still damp then let it air dry. :3

favourite stuff to put in my curls

it’s 10% off on Well.ca’s “Green & Natural” category for the next 3 days, by the way (use coupon code 10GREEN at checkout if you wanna get in on it)!

ordered a new tube of this a few minutes ago! I was in need of a restock
Okay! Big question time. Since you're one of the only people I know of that has hair like mine. What exactly do you do to treat it and keep the frizz down? What products do you use, how do you like to wear it most, what type of scrunchies do you use, what are your favorite hairstyles, how do you style unruly curly hair. The list goes on and on. I would love your insight.

I really don’t do anything very special. The only time I brush it is before I wash it (while it’s still dry). I try not to wash it everyday. On average I’d say it gets shampooed once every 2-3 days, but I’ve gone longer. The shampoos and conditioners I use lately are from Organix. My favourites so far are their shea butter line, mandarin olive oil, cherry blossom ginseng, acai berry avacado, and pomegranate green tea.

This company does not test on animals and all suppliers of their ingredients are required to confirm that their materials are not tested on animals.

As for what I use to style it, I work some of Andalou Natural’s Sweet Orange & Argan Styling Cream into my curls after a quick towel-dry post shower, and let it air dry with the product in it. This company does not test on animals either.

Sometimes, since my bangs are quite long now, I use the straightener to curl them back, just makes them a look a little more tidy if they’re having an off-day. Sometimes they look fine without it though.

Day-to-day, I really only have two hairstyles: up and down. The more playful looks you might’ve seen in some of my pictures aren’t suitable for my current workplace. Not to mention with my hair (or maybe my shitty hair skillz are more to blame, idk) it’s pretty futile trying to “plan” a specific hairstyle, you kind of have to submit to its will and go with the flow.

I don’t use scrunchies, but I use those standard black hair ties…the ones without the metal on them? The metal ones catch my hair, it’s a pain in the butt.

*shrugs* there’s not much else to say…aside from, regarding more elaborate hairstyles, “bobby pins are your friend.”

Hope that helped! Have a great day! <333

Though I’d initially started by creating a board dedicated to all products I’ve tried and continue to use/recommend, I’ve since broken it down into specific boards

The lists aren’t huge by any means right now, but they will of course expand as I continue to try new products, and I hope to eventually have a board for cruelty-free cleaning products as well!

Hopefully this makes it a little easier for those of you who are interested in or trying to buy more cruelty-free and are curious to know what someone would suggest based on personal experience :)

reblogging in case anyone interested missed this!
